Greetings. As a firefighter, you know that your job can be both difficult and rewarding. At times, it may seem like your work experiences are hard for other people to understand. Reflect on your position and connect to the experiences of others by reading these books.
“Pride & Ownership: A Firefighter’s Love of the Job” by Rick Lasky explores the challenges firefighters face on a daily basis. The book, which includes interesting historical information, concludes that passion is perhaps the most important part of the profession.
Another excellent read is “First In, Last Out: Leadership Lessons from the New York Fire Department” by John Salka. The author relays firsthand experiences of what it’s like to work for the FDNY, one of the most well-respected organizations in the industry.
Thanks for watching, and be sure to tune in soon for more.
