At long last, Jack Griffin Billings has received his high school diploma.
In 1951, the young Billings didn’t finish his senior year of high school in San Diego, instead joining the Air Force.
While serving, he took a GED course and passed, but never received his diploma. Now 83 and living in Alabama, Billings recently received that document.
It did, however, take a lot of work by his family. Phone calls and emails were exchanged, necessary files were tracked down. After all that, the San Diego Unified School District finally verified and delivered the diploma.
This just goes to show that people will go out of their way to help veterans whenever possible, in recognition of the sacrifices they made for their country.
