Hello and welcome. As a former servicemember, you might be considering a career in law enforcement. The discipline, leadership and problem-solving skills you acquired as a soldier are great starting points for embarking on the path toward becoming a police officer. If this industry sounds appealing to you but you aren’t sure where to begin, here are some helpful tips to get you started.
First, it’s important to note that police jobs are extremely competitive, so it’s a good idea to polish your resume if you’re serious about joining the force. It’s crucial that you have a high school diploma, and ideally some sort of post-secondary criminal justice training. Additionally, a background check is conducted, and something as simple as multiple traffic violations could take you out of the running.
Being mentally and physically fit is also important, so get yourself in shape before pursuing this job.
