Many organizations aim to help veterans in their everyday lives, but a few go above and beyond what some would expect. That’s certainly true of Habitat for Humanity.
In Lawrence, Massachusetts, the local branch of the organization recently started work on a duplex that will provide housing for veterans and their families.
The Merrimack Valley Habitat for Humanity worked with local veterans groups to get its first “veterans build” off the ground.
Volunteers work on the site three days a week, and the job is progressing quickly. Similar efforts have already proven successful in other parts of the Bay State.
The reason these builds exist is because, nationwide, close to a million vets face significant financial issues that prevent them from finding suitable affordable housing.
Thanks for watching, and be sure to check in again later for more information on the many organizations that try to give vets a helping hand.
